The Use of Official Statistical Micro Data in Academic Research and Higher Learning

The Statistics Act, fully enforced in April 2009 (Act No. 53 of 2007, hereinafter referred to as the “Statistics Act”), placed statistics as the foundation of information for society and established a system to promote the effective use of statistical data.
An amendment to the Statistics Act was enforced in May 2019, and the use of services offering official statistical micro data became more widespread.
The Research Centre for Information and Statistics of Social Science at the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, in collaboration with the National Statistics Center, will promote the provision of official statistical anonymized data for researchers and others conducting academic research.

*Please refer to the National Statistics Center website regarding collaboration with the National Statistics Center and secondary use of official statistical data.
